V - Inspiring a million more young volunteers

VSU is one of only 20 organisations in the UK which successfully applied to host a vteam funded by v, the new youth volunteering charity launched by Gordon Brown in May 2006, whose mission is to inspire a million more young volunteers aged 16-25 years.

The vteams, each comprising a Youth Volunteer Development Manager and five Youth Volunteer Development Advisors are responsible for making youth volunteering real, effective and fun at a local level, helping organisations like VSU to create lots of new and exciting opportunities for young pwople to volunteer in their community.

Zoe Young has been appointed VSU's Youth Volunteer Development Manager. Zoe will be responsible for working with partner organisations to make volunteering more accessible to young people living in the Kent and Medway area. In addition to expanding the number of opportunities in organisations who already involve young volunteers, Zoe will also be looking to build the capacity of new organisations to work with young volunteers for the first time.

She will also focus on opening up volunteering opportunities in new sectors and creating opportunities for young people from groups who face real barriers to volunteering.

Zoe has 10 years' experience or working with young people. She has been with VSU for five years, most recently as Area Co-ordinator for Tonbridge.

If you would like to speak to Zoe, please give her a call.
