The Courier Media Group teamed up with AXA PPP healthcare to organise the Heart of the Community Awards for West Kent and East Sussex. Tonbridge and Malling VSU Youth in Action won the medium projects award, receiving a trophy and a thousand pounds to spend on the project. The group received this award at a dinner at the Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells. The project is Connect, a music and drama group run at Hill View School for Girls in Tonbridge, where young volunteers work alongside young disabled people.
